Material Design for 3D Printing
UW Nelson Lab
1/3
The Nelson Laboratory develops stimuli-responsive materials and bio-hybrid materials that are compatible with additive manufacturing (AM, or 3D printing) processes. We utilize synthetic polymer chemistry and supramolecular chemistry to control macromolecular architecture and composition, which govern the viscoelastic properties of polymeric materials. We particularly focus on developing materials for AM that can impact applications in the life sciences. As an interdisciplinary team of researchers, we have a broad set of skills that include polymer synthesis, rheological characterization, microbial culture, and 3D printing.
